Bruch's ever-popular First Violin Concerto gets a performance of genuine fire and passion. The Scottish Fantasia was a favorite of Jascha Heifetz, who performed it in a cut version with his customary perfection of technique. Chung really throws down the gauntlet, playing the work complete and really staking the music's claim to be considered a masterpiece. This is simply the best performance it's ever had.
